Government
Ann Arbor, as well as the rest of the Washtenaw County townships, is governed by a board of trustees. Open Board Meetings are held at the Ann Arbor Charter Township Hall on Mondays at 7:30 P.M.  Being a community oriented government; there is also a planning commission that meets at 7:30 on the first Monday of every month.

History
Ann Arbor was originally founded by two outdoorsmen by the name of Elisha Rumsey and John Allen. The entire acreage was purchased by these two gentlemen from the United States Government, from which it was sold to by the local Native Americans of that time. It did not take long for Ann Arbor, as with the surrounding villages, to begin to prosper. The highlights of Ann Arbor in the 1800’s were a general store and a tannery. A few years later, the University of Michigan was founded there and shortly after the first railway went through the area. From there, Ann Arbor became a very popular spot for the wealthy business owners who would inevitably build the area to what it has become today.

Community Information
As the base for the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor is home to many exciting annual events and local businesses. On the event end, performing arts are constantly on the rise, one such being the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. There are plenty of museums and other options for entertainment all within a short drive of Ann Arbor. If you are a sports fan the University of Michigan hosts plenty of football and baseball games at the Ann Arbor Michigan Stadium.
